On January 7, Renee Good, a legal observer who monitored ICE operations on behalf of pro‑migrant organizations, was murdered by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) agent. The images, which spread like wildfire, clearly show the agent firing point‑blank at her, through the car window as she attempted to leave the street, with no provocation whatsoever. A cold‑blooded execution which exposes ICE for what it is: a fascist shock troops against the working class and youth.
This murder takes place amid a brutal ICE deployment in the state of Minnesota, accompanied by a racist campaign against the Somali community. The Trump administration has began by deploying 2,000 ICE agents in Minneapolis, who on Monday alone carried out 150 arrests. This is an offensive against migrant workers and a very serious provocation, in the same city where George Floyd was murdered and which became the heart of the 2020 Black Lives Matter uprising.
Imperialism abroad; war against the working class at home
After the murder became known, all spokespersons for the Trump administration not only defended ICE’s actions but justified Renee’s killing. President Donald Trump stated on his social media that the driver “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer who seems to have shot her in self defense,” and blamed the left for the killing: “The situation is being fully reviewed, but the reason these incidents occur is because the radical left threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers. They are only trying to do their job of KEEPING THE UNITED STATES SAFE. We must support and protect our law enforcement officers from this radical left movement that promotes violence and hatred!” His Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, also described Renee’s actions as “domestic terrorism.”
The 21st‑century American fascists—many of whom fill the ranks of ICE and the Trump‑era state apparatus—treat our migrant brothers and sisters as inferior beings, without rights, whose lives are worthless. Trumpism has imposed terror on the migrant community, just as the Nazis and their stormtroopers did to the Jewish community in Germany. In addition to the more than 220,000 arrests estimated to have taken place by October 2025, 30 people died in ICE custody last year, the highest number since 2004.
Protests make the United States tremble
Just hours later, at the site of Renee’s killing, a memorial had already been erected and hundreds of people gathered to honor the latest victim of ICE’s institutional racism. Pain and anger erupted in a massive demonstration that shook the city of Minneapolis and even forced ICE to retreat at one point. The demands are clear:
1. Expel ICE from Minnesota.
2. End mass deportations.
3. Trial and punishment for those responsible for Renee’s murder.

But the mobilizations did not stop in Minneapolis: New York, Boston, Washington… up to 100 cities have witnessed an uprising that points directly at the heart of institutional racism, at ICE, and at the Trump administration. These mobilizations are yet another chapter in the resistance against Trump’s racist, imperialist, and fascist plans.
The governor of Minnesota and the mayor of Minneapolis, both Democrats, issued statements rejecting Renee’s killing and denouncing ICE’s criminal actions. But immediately afterwards—following the wave of protests that filled the streets of dozens of U.S. cities, and which in Minnesota resulted in tens of arrests, after police clashes—Governor Tim Walz did not hesitate to declare a state of emergency and deploy the National Guard, placing 2,000 troops on standby. The hypocrisy.
Once again, US streets are trembling with rage against ICE. The American working class and youth are on the move, leading in the only direction capable of defeating Trump and his imperialist, neo‑fascist agenda: mass struggle, class organization, and the general strike.
Solidarity with the immigrant working class!
Down with ICE! Trump Out!
